I have been asked by a lot of people, including myself, if I paint my new construction home. I tend to respond that just because you paint your new house, then you have to paint your old one. And, of course, that’s true. If you paint your house, you have to paint your old house. However, it just so happens that I think that painting your old house probably won’t really make much of a difference.
There is a good reason why many of us are painting old houses. The interior surfaces are usually rougher than the exterior surfaces. The roughness of a surface (whether it is a roof, floor, wall, or ceiling) affects how the surface will hold up to a paint job. The interior of your home is constantly being exposed to the elements.
I can agree with this statement. When you paint something new, you are literally doing it on top of something that has been dead for a few years. It’s a process of creating a new surface. But is there a way to take the surface of old house and apply it to new house so that the old house is not so easily damaged.
Well, no. The surface of your new home shouldn’t be any of the interior surfaces of your old house. The interior of your new home should be the exterior surfaces of your old home. By the time you are finished, you will have a finished home. Then you will have the best home you have ever lived in. When you get home, it can become very clear that you have taken care of your home.
While I agree with the first part of this chapter, I’m going to argue that it’s not the best way to go about getting your new home. The second part is where you should be.
I disagree. There are lots of things you can do to make an upgrade to your home that will make it look better. You can paint; you can do flooring, trim, and all of those things. But there are also a lot of interior things you can do right at the top of your to-do list.
For instance, I can see how you’d want an all wood ceiling to look better. But for the sake of this article, I’m going to go with something that I think is a whole lot better for your home. You can get a pre-hung drywall ceiling and paint it. That’s a step that a lot of people are probably thinking about doing, but the downside is that it is going to increase the cost of the ceiling.
Dry walls are not cheap. They take a lot of time and money. They are something that you need to consider very carefully. Most drywall installers will tell you this is not a good idea. They will tell you that it will increase the cost of the ceiling, which is a good thing, but it will also increase the cost of painting the ceiling. You can paint your ceiling before you do the drywall.
Why do you think it works? It’s because a drywall installation is simply a painting process. You can do it all day. But the next time you paint your ceiling, it will be a painting process.
So what if you wanted to do an installation job but you didn’t have the paint. Why would you paint your ceiling? This is actually a good thing for you. Painting your ceiling will help you to save money, since the paint will still be there when you’re done.
